Vosyn AI

Pt. 1: Introduction

Vosyn AI is a growing AI startup with a focus on empowering creators with innovative AI-driven tools. I joined the team during a pivotal moment in their growth, as the company began scaling its internal structure, expanding its product vision, and taking its design systems to the next level. I was brought on as the UX/UI Team Lead, and my role quickly evolved into one that required not only strong design capabilities, but also effective leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration across multiple departments.

Technology used:

  • Figma — was used for all wireframing and prototyping
  • Figjam — was used for all collaborative brainstorming
  • Adobe Creative Suite & Canva — was used to create custom graphics and design branded documents
  • Notion — was used for collaboration and project management

Pt. 2: Team Growth & Restructuring

When I first joined Vosyn, the team was small — around 20 people. But in a matter of months, it doubled. This rapid scaling required an overhaul of the existing team structures. I took initiative to reimagine how the design team could function effectively in a much larger, faster-paced environment. I helped implement new workflows, created documentation for smoother onboarding, and restructured our design sub-teams into categories like accessibility, branding, web, UX research, and design systems. I made it a priority to ensure every designer felt like their voice mattered and that they were working on meaningful tasks that aligned with both company and personal growth goals.

Pt. 3: Cross-Functional Collaboration

A large part of my role involved working directly with the CPO, COO, and founders. This close collaboration helped ensure that design was not operating in a silo, but rather as a critical part of the company’s overall strategy. I also worked frequently with the software team to align development goals with user experience priorities, and with the marketing team to ensure consistency in messaging and visuals across the board.

One of the biggest challenges (and proudest achievements) was leading a company-wide redesign initiative. This included the overhaul of our platform UI, a new website, and the introduction of updated brand guidelines. I led the research, helped define the goals and direction, coordinated with stakeholders, and guided my teams through ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and testing. Because we couldn’t rely on intuition alone, we made data-backed decisions through A/B testing and usability testing sessions, which I helped organize and analyze.

Pt. 4: Leadership in Action

As the UX/UI team lead, my work extended beyond assigning tasks — I was deeply involved in every aspect of the design process. I jumped into Figma files to offer feedback and contribute, wrote strategy docs, and provided mentorship to junior designers.

I was particularly passionate about ensuring we approached problems with empathy — both for the users and for the team. I learned how to balance being hands-on while giving others space to grow and take ownership.

I created working systems to ensure seamless teamwork, such as implementing a new design system to ensure all teams within UX/UI (and external teams we worked with) were involved fully during the relevant stages of development and used an organised approach to ensure every member was involved and aware of what they were working towards.

I also implemented a new design process. There were so many teams and so much going on in all of the teams that it became confusing for everyone at one point to understand what was going on or what we were doing. So alongside our frequent check-in meetings, I also established a new design process that involved all necessary steps, including research, vital checkpoints for approal from the CPO and founders, A/B and usability testing, wireframing, prototyping and design iterations.

Pt. 5: Reflection & Takeaways

Though I can’t share any final designs due to NDA constraints, this project was one of the most impactful experiences of my design career so far. It pushed me to grow as a leader, a designer, and a collaborator. I had to constantly step outside of my comfort zone — to speak up in executive meetings, to take ownership over major company initiatives, and to support a growing team through change.

Leading the Vosyn UX/UI team taught me that great design isn’t just about pixels on a screen — it’s about how you lead people, solve real problems, and adapt to change. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust the founders placed in me, and for the talented teammates I got to learn from and grow alongside.
